This colorful little foodery near the University of Sciences specializes in a food that is still pretty rare in Philly: chaats, the Indian roadside food, made with crunchy Indian snacks, like broken up crackers, papris, samosas, or noodles, along with beans, lentils, nuts, potatoes, strips of lamb and chicken, yogurt, rice and what-have-you Indian ingredients. The menu is robust, and it's hard to choose from so many selections. Many of the chaats are both savory and sweet, and packed with a dynamic collage of flavors and consistencies (crunchy and smooth, etc.)

The portions are bigger than snack-size -- one will satisfy for lunch (and for some of us, dinner). There is also a sensational vegetarian biryani available most days, and often a small offering of other specials like lentil curry. I've never tried the mango lassis but they also seem popular with students or lunching employees of the nearby VA hospital. There are a few tables, often used at lunch.
